Let me confess something: I have never once called this property simply “The Strat”, always “Stratosphere”, even after the rebrand. What if I called just the Tower “Stratosphere Tower” and just used “The Strat” when referring to the whole property? Would I be made fun of or bullied for it?

In reply to Mike L. Yeah, the resort fee at the Strat isn't going down anytime soon, and the room rates are starting to climb. It doesn't look like they're still doing the 24 hour happy hour at Cbar anymore, either. You have to provide a little more value beyond free parking to make up for the neighborhood.

I think The Strat is a good, old fashioned, “Vegas value”. I think Golden Gaming principal owner Blake Sartini is the brother in law of Frank III and Lorenzo Fertitta, who are Station Casinos principal owners. It sure looks to me that these companies are providing good value at many locations across the valley. If I avoid the 2.3 mile “Las Vegas Strip” I find good odds, good food and good service at a good price all over town.

Wife and I were in Las Vegas one week ago (last weekend in January). Stayed at Treasure Island. We like the central location and free parking. Rent a car so we can go to stuff like the Joe Neal book “Westside Slugger” signing at the Nevada State Museum at Springs Preserve last Saturday. We had lunch at the Sourdough Café inside Arizona Charlie’s Decatur (a Golden Gaming property). A $9 meat loaf plate with salad, baked potato and mixed vegetables. Delicious and more food than I could have eaten when I was 18 years old. Same money on the Strip has you at the food court in Casino Royale.

My point being that there is still good value in Las Vegas and Strat owner Golden Gaming is a big part of it.

Great i love Stratosphere (STRAT) go there once a year and always get a great deal. Perfect location between the Strip and Old Vegas. And free parking and no nickel and dimeing that corporate casinos love.

Look forward to my next visit!
