]]>It’s not really about the airplanes as much as it’s about TCAS, the navigational radio systems they use for landing the planes. The signals are very directional and buildings can reflect/interfere with those frequencies. Think of it as a lighthouse at the end of the runway, if that light were to reflect off another surface, like a build at just the right (or wrong) angle, it could cause a pilot to land on the strip instead of the runway.
