classic arcades are a tough sell. people love nostalgia, but most want to indulge in it once or twice a year. they had nothing but video gaming to draw people in prior to the disco parties. the disco seemed to be a good draw, but the gaming wasn’t enough to keep video game enthusiasts returning to the place at other times of the day, hence the fact they stopped opening before disco fever began at 8 p.m.

having consoles and classic cabinets seemed like a great idea, and i’ve read that it has worked to some extent in different formulas across the country, but it’s clear there was a host of problems to making it work long term in the downtown district. i’m doubtful they’ll find a better location that will work for them.

The problem with Downtown Vegas is the lack of fast and easy access. The bus is $5 each way, or a $20 cab ride. And the traffic from the Strip can make it a 45 min ordeal. I still don’t know why the monorail wasn’t built to go out to the airport and all the way to Fremont.

It was an interesting place, but I found the outside to really unwelcoming. It’s not a site you can really stumble into. I think a standard bar with a large outdoor space would do well.
