Loan refinancing will be interesting given SEC filings show Sphere has a small chance of meeting its liquidity covenants or its working capital ratio requirement of 1.5:1 per terms of the loan. But maybe that’s irrelevant if Sphere borrowed through its subsidiaries or another company(ies) owned by the same people? In that case, maybe refinancing is essentially guaranteed even if they do have cash flow probs. No idea how this stuff works, but feels like the Sphere would be acting more worried if they were actually worried, right?

I went to the Sphere opening nite for U2 with my son…and it was a “amazing journey” for sure but we were way up their in the cheap seats and always thought if I were a big entertainer from we were seated nobody could see me because the fantasic lite show is to overwhelming…Tay and Bey might want to think about seen from far away and play second fiddle to a great lite show…..

In reply to Bob. that's not exactly accurate. Bands are typically paid 85 to 90% of the net. Off of the net comes the rental fee charged by the venue. So before bands at the sphere get paid their 90%, the sphere gets a very healthy nightly rental fee.

Postcard from Earth is interesting but something that you only want to see once. Need more variety of movies. Not sure why they don’t do more concert movies. I am sure people would flock to see the Eras tour movie on that screen with that sound system. Could they replay concerts there? Basically, it could be same experience without the band on the stage

By looking at their financials, it seems the sphere actually gained $25.7 million in the 4th quarter.
Revenue – operating expenses = $25.7

I just saw Dead & Company and cannot give enough praise to everyone involved. How is it possible for a band to bring in $4 million dollars a show over a 30 show residency in two and a half months plus the cut of the merchandising the alcohol the $9 bottles of water etc for there to be a deficit. At at least I got to see Bobby and the boys at that awesome venue. Saw Grateful Dead over 600 times Jerry would be proud.

In the concert world the overwhelming bulk of revenue goes to the act. A 90/10 split is common and other big acts aren’t likely to give them a better deal. For acts like Tay or Bey the promoter is essentially paid for their services. But there isn’t a 2.3 bil building to pay for.

Likely ends in bankruptcy, pennies on the dollar. My guess would be Apollo Global picking it up. The building cost is going to need to be written down before they can make money.
