Deaf ears? Not so fast, Devin. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) will listen to and consider every public comment they receive from the local community. This includes over 600 e-mails of casino opposition already sent to the PGCB. Since mid-April, over 1,160 local casino opponents have signed an online petition and 965 actual hard-copy petition signatures have been collected in the State College area. The PGCB will consider all of that when deciding to approve or deny the casino’s license application.
Please note that PGCB Director of Communications, Doug Harbach, spoke on WPSU.org’s “Conversations Live: Gambling in Pennsylvania” program on December 17 and is quoted verbatim as follows “The Board is looking at every bit of information that comes in here and then they will have a public vote on that in the near future.” Nothing is falling on deaf ears.
